Choose your winter cleanser carefully
In cold weather conditions, I am very cautious about my skin. Therefore, before buying, I strictly check cleaner ingredients & avoid synthetic fragrances & chemicals such as sulfate and alcohol (which are harmful to the skin). It’s my advice to you that kindly don’t’ be confused by reading marketing terms like sensitive skin or anti-aging. Choose the best natural cleanser (or any organic skin care product or natural homemade cleanser) based on your skin type viz.
- Dry Skin: You can choose aloe vera & coconut oil-based cleaners.
- Oily Skin: You can use –
- Olive Oil, Milk, Rose Water, Gram Flour and Turmeric,
- and also opt for many other options such as Honey And Lemon Cleanser, Cucumber And Tomato Cleanser, Chamomile Te, and Apple Cider Vinegar
- Normal / Combination Skin: Use a mild and water-soluble cleanser to maintain your skin’s pH levels.
Do exercise daily
The cold weather is a big challenge for us to stick to on our daily workout routine. Though, during the chilled winter season, there are no excuses for daily exercises if you have the desire for naturally fit and glowing skin. Take Care Of Your Diet
To stay warm naturally during winters, I prefer specific foods, spices, and drinks in my daily diet. There are an n-number of diet tips but I am sharing my tried winter skincare tips with you. I hope, it will be helpful for you.
- I prefer calcium & iron-rich dried fruits such as Figs (or anjeer) and dates to boost my energy level.
- Eat warm root vegetables such as turnip, carrots, radish, and garlic before lunch.
- Prefer green leafy vegetables viz. cabbage, broccoli, kale, spinach, mint, parsley, etc to fight against infections.
- I always pick Vitamin C-rich citrus fruits such as oranges, sweet lime, pineapple, guavas, and strawberries on a daily basis that helps fight infections in winter.
- I love to add spices (such as tulsi, neem, cloves, cinnamon, ginger, and star anise) to my wintery hot beverages for extra flavor and warmth. You can also use these species in making delicious soups, curries, teas, and coffees.
These tips will not maintain your body temperature in cold weather but also protect your skin from blowing dry cold air.
Keep Your Feet Clean and Dry
I often wear winter boots & wool socks to keep my feet warm, but my first priority is to keep my feet clean and dry. Hence, I use glycerin-based creams and petroleum jelly to moisturize my feet. Please try once my tried skin care advice, it will be beneficial for you.
Avoid frequent exfoliation
I mostly choose face masks instead of preferring over-usage of scrubs or exfoliators in the cold weather season. Yeah, it’s true that exfoliation is one of the most effective ways to reduce dead skin cells in my winter skincare routine. Hence, for my healthier skin, I follow exfoliation with a moisturizer once a week if I am not using face masks.
Eat omega-3 rich foods
I prefer omega-3 fatty acid-rich foods such as chia seeds, hemp seeds, flax seeds, salmon, and walnuts for my healthy skin on winter days. These nutrients are very effective to regulate the skin’s oil production, improve balanced hydration, subdue breakouts, and minimize signs of aging. Thus, you can also add these healthy nutrients to your daily diet.
Change Wet Clothes to Avoid Itchy Skin
Please change your wet clothes and shoes as fast as possible in cold weather conditions because it increases irritation on your skin and causes itchiness. If you are caught in unexpected freezing temperatures, then remove wet gloves, socks, and pants as early as possible, and prefer hot food and drinks as they can genuinely maintain your body temperature and your mood.
Don’t forget the sunscreen
On cold winter days, the warm sun rays are pleasant for us, but the Ultra Violet (UV) radiations can damage our skin. Thus, if I am going outside the home, then I never forget to use sunscreen lotion for my skin and wear gloves & caps to protect myself in the cold weather conditions. Therefore, please seriously take care of your skin from harsh winter winds, snow, or rain.
Use lukewarm water
Please prefer lukewarm water for bathing during winters. Too hot water can dry your skin, and if you do not moisturize it immediately, your skin can develop cracks and winter eczema. Hence, use a natural moisturizer such as coconut or olive oil after taking a bath that will protect your skin & your body temperature.
